# Chart types

> Every chart type in Basedash and when to use each one

A chart type is how Basedash visualizes a query result: as a line, bars, a single number, a table, and so on. When you ask for a chart, the AI picks a type based on the shape of your data and your question. You can name a type in your prompt ("as a pie chart") or change it in the [chart editor](https://basedash.com/docs/features/charts.md).
